St.
Paul's Cooperative Preschool
Founded in 1989 by the Outreach
Committee of St. Paul’s
Church, St. Paul’s Cooperative Preschool follows
the public school calendar and runs from 8:30 – 12:30
Monday through Friday. Children who attend must
be 3 years old by September 1st. We are non-profit
and self-supporting.
Program
St. Paul’s Cooperative Preschool provides a
warm and friendly first school experience for young
children and their families. We welcome children
from families of all races, religions, cultural heritages
and financial status. Our program is based on
early childhood research that shows that children develop
socially, and learn new skills best, when allowed to
explore social roles and abilities at directed, spontaneous
play. Young children are highly motivated to
learn in this way because their play interests them
personally. Our teacher offers supportive guidance,
designs activities, and selects materials that enrich
opportunities for play. Children are helped with
problem solving and adults applaud efforts to work
out solutions. Trust, self-esteem, independence,
cooperation, friendship, and care for God’s creations
are valued traits fostered in the classroom.
Parents
Our school is a cooperative
where parents have a unique and vital role in their
child’s preschool. Each
parent takes turns working as a helper alongside the
Teacher-Director. They gain insight into the
growth and development of young children, most importantly
their own child. Our school benefits from the
diversity of our families and the ways each shares
in fostering a community of young learners. The
friendships formed among our school families last well
beyond the preschool years.
