St. Paul's cookbook, Nantucket
Offerings: A Cookbook Celebrating Nantucket's Seasons is
a church cookbook with a twist—a compilation of
favorite recipes from parish members that celebrates
ingredients native to the island.
The beautiful photographs and delicious
recipes are organized by season and special occasions,
beginning with Spring and Daffodil Weekend. Nantucket
Offerings captures the culinary culture of our little
island 30 miles at sea and will be a treasure to both
islanders and visitors alike.
Published in 2005, all money raised from cookbook sales helps
to pay for St. Paul's Outreach programs. Nantucket
Offerings costs $24.95 + shipping
and handling.

Offerings: A Cookbook Celebrating Nantucket's Seasons:
The
Not-So-Chocolate Cookies
makes 3 dozen
8 oz. unsalted butter, room temperature
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. sugar
2 large eggs
2 c. plus 3 tbsp. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. lemon or range oil
4 c. white or dark chocolate chunks
Cream butter in electric mixer at high speed until light
and fluffy. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Beat in the
eggs one at a time until completely mixed. In separate bowl
mix flour, salt, and baking soda. Add to butter mixture at
low speed until just combined. Add vanilla and lemon or orange
oil. Beat on medium speed until blended. Be careful not to
overmix. Add chocolate chunks and refrigerate for an hour
or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°. Line several cookie sheets with
parchment paper. Drop heaping spoonfuls of dough on sheets.
Bake 9-12 minutes, depending on the oven, until golden around
the edges. Cool on wire racks.
Cookies freeze well.
